Getting Ready For 2020 / 2021

Great news for winter enthusiasts! The Mount Martin Ski Club is planning on opening for the 2020/2021 season and volunteers are busy preparing. Knowing that many indoor sports have been put on hold this year, skiing at MMSC is one sport that can take place without the need to go into an interior space at all. Volunteers are constructing a deck outside the club that will give access to a concession window for lift pass and snack purchases. The clubhouse will have one-way access and will be divided into seating sections for a small number of people. The ski patrol has received lengthy additional training on COVID protocols and PPE use and is all set to keep those on the hill safe.

Membership purchase is being encouraged as this gives skiers the flexibility of coming for brief periods of time, multiple times a week, with never having to enter the chalet. In the event that Covid-19 prevents us from opening or the season, we will offer a refund of paid-up memberships.

We are still planning for both a ski & snowboard lesson program this year with high hopes we will be able to run.  A little extra work is going into organizing & training to ensure the safety of both students & instructors.

MMSC lessons are a 4 week session that usually start in January (snow depending) with registration starting late November/Early December. We also offer private lessons upon request.

In these uncertain times please remember that despite all the time & effort put into organizing these programs, Covid may prevent us from running them.

MMSC operates on a very slim budget but with the help of volunteers, grants and donations is hoping to make this a memorable ski season.

Stay tuned for more info.

Closed for the Season

March 18, 2020
Only a few weeks ago, everyone was having the time of their lives, enjoying perfect conditions at MMSC. Then the rain came and so did COVID-19. We were hoping that the rain would not happen and never expected the fall-out from COVID-19. In fact, we were planning to open MMSC to everyone on the Tuesday evening.
MMSC executive would like to say a proper good-bye and see you next year to all of our friends and supporters. To Myrna and Steve and all the ski patrol team, to Ryland, our amazing hill manager and his lift team, Dana and her treats and for helping out MMSC executive, to many others who work behind the scenes, including Chris Forbes, Jerry Albrecht, Pete Rose and the crew that worked on the Groomer Shed, Tracy Lance and Dave Martin, Ian Ingram, to all the wonderful parents and students who helped Katie Hogue and Mark Chapman and the race team and to my darling instructors who helped me with the Ski and Board lessons and to Cori and Joe, for the Maple Taffy, Gearhead’s for Demo Day and their support and Becky Bergeron and Lauren Kinghorn and her team for organizing CNL in choosing our MMSC facility for a play day for their employees and their families. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Town of Deep River and to Christine Armstrong and our Mayor, Susan D-Eon and all the councilors for granting us our application for funding for our instruction program.
The biggest problem with identifying some is that we may have left out valuable helpers along the way. For this we are truly sorry and your work is no less meaningful to us.
Finally we would like to thank all those who supported us over the season and for all of our new friends that decided to take a chance on MMSC. We look forward to seeing you next season or possibly at Pine Point Beach during the summer.

End of 2018/2019 Season

We are closed or the season. Thank you to all our patrons. We hope you all enjoyed your times with us. We certainly enjoyed having you.
