Our prayers to the snow gods have been answered! We have great conditions at the hill, snow in the forecast and nice mild weather for the weekend. In order to make up some of the time we lost at the beginning of this season, the regular operating hours for MMSC are being extended. Starting this Friday our regular hours are as follows:
Get your family and friends out and enjoy the hill!
I thought I should take this opportunity to update everyone as to the condition of The Hill.
This morning Steve McCauley, in his capacity as Head of the Ski Patrol , and myself, skied Mambo and Bar M., Eric Stock and Myrna McCauley also walked some of the Hill.
Looking from the top of the Hill it seems as if there is reasonable coverage on some runs, however the reality is that in the better areas there is only a maximum of 2 cms. of light fluffy snow covering rutted frozen snow/ice and frozen dirt.
Steve and I are of the opinion that the conditions are too dangerous to open the Hill. The Hill will therefore be closed until we get a substantial snow fall.
I realise that this situation is very frustrating, but I can assure you that no one shares this frustration more than myself and my staff and Ski Patrol members.
My philosophy as manager has always been, to provide a Safe, enjoyable, fun environment for Skiers and Boarders, given the current conditions, we are not able to meet those criteria.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding .
Pray for snow!
Regards, Ryland Evans, Hill Manager, Mt Martin Ski Club
We did not have a lot of snow on the ground when we opened last week. The rain yesterday took away more than half of it and now we have to wait for more. Until that happens, the hill will have to remain closed.
Our season is underway. Adult skiing is on for tonight and there will be lessons for those who have signed up. Unfortunately, rain is forecast in the next few days.
There is insufficient snow at the hill to allow us to open. Up to 12″ of snow is still needed.
Snow willing, the hill will open for the new season on Sunday, December 17th.
We want to let as many people as possible know that MMSC will be at the Community Registration Evening at Mackenzie Community School on Wednesday, September 6th from 6:30 until 8:30 for Early Bird Registration.
MMSC’s fee structure is changing this year. After many years of fees being held at the same rate, our club has decided that to keep the club viable, we have no choice but to increase fees.
To help, our Early Bird fees are the same price as last year, with the exception that additional family members after the first three will be charged $50 each. These prices are being held until November 30th, with final payment to be made by November 30th. Children under 6 at December 31 and those members over 80 remain free. On December 1st, the fee increase begins. We are also offering a non-refundable, non-transferable between people, 6 pass coupon for $100.00 to be purchased by November 30th. All memberships purchased are non-refundable.
Everyone who purchases an Early Bird membership at this event can sign a slip for a chance to win an MMSC shirt. There will be 3 to choose from. This draw will take place on September 6th at the end of the evening.
There will be an opportunity to sign up for the Racing Program as well with the fees being held at the same rate as last year.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible to take advantage of this opportunity.
We hope to have the re-vamped Registration forms completed and available on the MMSC Group Facebook page and at www.mountmartin.ca very soon.
